Tirupur: The fourth water supply project at an estimated cost of Rs 1,000 crore is being implemented under the AMRUT scheme to supply drinking water to areas under Tirupur Corporation.
As per the project, drinking water will be supplied from Mettupalayam through pipe lines and supplied throughout Tirupur.
At present, drinking water is being supplied as a trial run.
In this situation, the valve of the main pipe carrying drinking water in Thirumuruganpoondi area has breached leading to water wastage.
Due to this, the road was flooded with water, which led to traffic jams.
Corporation officials rushed to the spot and plugged the breach on a war footing due to which water wastage was avoided.
